Privacy, Data Protection & Confidentiality

Your privacy and confidentiality are central to my work as a therapist. I am committed to handling your personal information with care, transparency, and respect, in line with the ethical framework of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and current data protection legislation (UK GDPR).

Confidentiality

Everything you share in therapy is treated as confidential. This means that your personal information and the content of our sessions will not be shared with others without your consent, except in rare circumstances where there is a legal or ethical duty to do so — for example, if there is a serious risk of harm to yourself or others, or where disclosure is required by law. If such a situation were ever to arise, I would aim to discuss this with you wherever possible.

Supervision

As part of ethical practice, I engage in regular clinical supervision. This is a confidential space where I reflect on my work to ensure safe, effective, and ethical therapy.
Any information shared with my supervisor is anonymised, meaning no identifying details are used. This process supports my learning, professional development, and the quality of the therapeutic relationship.
